Position Summary: The Innovation Program Lead is primarily responsible for playing a crucial role in the shaping and driving the successful execution of our strategic initiatives and R&D programs. You’ll be a part of Biomason’s R&D organization and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate has a strong background in program management, a track record of delivering complex projects, and exceptional leadership skills. This position will report to the Chief Scientific Officer, and works collaboratively with R&D, Process Engineering, and External Parter/Integrator teams.
Lead and oversee a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives
Manage and mentor a team of project managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
Collaborate with senior leadership and technical experts to define program objectives, scope, and priorities, and develop strategies for their successful execution
Lead the definition and development of research projects focused on surface chemistry of minerals for broader fundamental knowledge, surface modification of powders and specified commercial areas
Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects within your program portfolio, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives
Identify potential risks and issues within projects and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions
Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of projects
Implement best practices and quality standards to deliver high-quality results
Track and report on program and project performance, providing regular updates to senior management
Minimum of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, material’s science or engineering plus 10-12 years relevant experience in industry. PhD in biology, chemistry, material’s science or engineering with 4-6 years relevant industry experience preferred
Prior R&D or manufacturing experience in carbonate minerals, such as calcite or aragonite , will be considered a major advantage for this position
Certifications from an accredited university in PMP (Project Management Professional) or Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP) is a plus
At least 3-5 years experience in project and program management, including managing large-scale initiatives through every phase of a project lifecycle with clear demonstration of achieving key milestones within time and budget
Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary to deliver detailed technical presentations in support of new products, processes, or findings
Ability to formulate detailed stage gated project plans, including business base, budgets, milestones, deliverables, KPIs, risk analysis, progress monitoring, stakeholder management, scope management, scheduling & planning, etc
Experience with direct management and leadership within an R&D organization, as well as with external contract research providers
Visionary leader that can identify opportunities for technology innovation, recommend solutions, initiate change, generate high quality results, and successfully manage projects or programs.
Proficiency in aligning programs with organizational goals and setting a clear vision
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with stakeholders effectively
Exceptional skills in multitasking as well as operating effectively under pressure
Familiarity and hands on experience with project management methodologies such as Agile, Kanban, Scrum, or Waterfall
Demonstrates strong data collection, and documentation management
Remain stationary for long periods of time, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
