We are an early startup with a big vision - capture 0.5GT of global CO2 emissions from the air by 2035 through biotechnology, roughly the same weight as all humans on earth combined! To meet our climate targets the reduction of CO2 emissions is not enough, the world actively has to capture billions of tons of CO2 from our atmosphere. To achieve that we at Ucaneo develop the world’s first biomimetic Direct Air Capture technology leveraging a biocatalytic membrane to capture CO2 from the air.
Lead our mechanical engineering efforts to build a small-scale lab reactor by the end of this year by yourself to get insights for scaling up to 20,000 liter machine within the next 2 years.
Build a 2 liter lab scale prototype within 6 months to remove first CO2 with our membrane with off the shelf equipment - it needs to run
Design, build and test different aeration modules together with our biotech process design engineer - we need a custom made design
Design different CAD parts and models of a 20,000 liter unit to showcase our vision
Ideally experience in electrical engineering, i.d. sensors, electrical circuits, and process control to get a lot of data out of 2 liter lab scale prototype
Able to work highly self-directed and independently planning your own workstream with the right level of detail, bottlenecks, timelines and milestones for a variety of projects from simple to complex, small to large
Ensure fast learning pace through quick product iterations and hands on building with the right balance of detail
Ability to work as a member of a cross-functional team
Skills and experience
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, “Anlagenbau” or related
5+ years of hand’s on experience in mechanical engineering/plant engineering
Experience in design, building and operation of mini/pilot plants for R&D and/or industrial plants in the oil & gas and energy sector, e.g. gas processing and liquefaction plants, air separation units, Direct Air Capture etc.
